Red Rose Cave & Pothole Club have recently received a grant of £400 from the Sedbergh & Kirkby Lonsdale (South Lakeland) Community Grants Fund to improve the access track to the cub’s centre at Bullpot Farm, Casterton in the Yorkshire Dales.

In addition, there have been improvements to the parking on either side of the track, which will result in less congestion on the public highway on the approach to Bullpot Farm and less likelihood of the bridleway to Barbondale being blocked, especially at weekends, as this is a popular parking place for cavers visiting the Ease Gill Caverns system and for walkers on the Casterton Fell area.

A mini digger and dumper truck was hired to clear and level the area. A wagon load of road stone was then delivered and distributed by hand and then consolidated using a wacker plate.
