Roy Fellows has sent us an update about the the underground works in Cwmystwyth Lefel Fawr. These are now completed and the Steel Road which replaced the second (awkward) tube is now open.

The truck which was right up against the new roadway is currently being relocated further in, it has now moved back about eight feet. The timber chassis has rotted allowing the body to drop onto the wheels. The whole thing is very wobbly and can only be moved by levering each wheel alternately. To compound matters it was off the rails, and rails were partially removed and moved out of line. A temporary rail had to be installed to get it to move.

A new fall at the base of the main ladderway beyond the new Steel Road means that the only present route to main ladder is through ‘Bell Chamber’ reached by turning right immediately before Steel Road.

This fall will be cleared probably early next year.
