The BCRA Cave Archaeology Group is holding a weekend field meeting on Recording Historic Graffiti & other markings in the Yorkshire Dales, based at Lower Winskill Farm, Settle on the weekend of 4th/5th June 2022.
|Friday||An informal evening get-together for any early arrivals.|
|Saturday||Morning session: Introductions and information, talks and presentations.
Lunch: 1200hrs – 1300hrs
Afternoon session: Field trip to Attermire Cave. Maximum numbers 10 or 12. A visit to Victoria Cave might be a useful back-up depending on numbers and/or abilities.
|Sunday||Morning session: A round-up and discussion. What has been learnt? Where do we go from here? Shall we do it all again sometime? Somewhere else?
Afternoon (?): Field trip to Victoria Cave/Jubilee Cave
|The above itinerary is flexible and entirely dependent on participant numbers and abilities. And there is the vagary of the weather during British summertime!|
Camping at Lower Winskill Farm is available. There are basic facilities, washroom and toilets, no showers. Self-catering, please take litter/rubbish home with you and dispose of it thoughtfully.
Nearby caving hut accommodation is available (currently priced at £10/night) at Yorkshire Subterranean Society (YSS), Old Schoolhouse, Austwick Road, Helwith Bridge, North Yorkshire, BD24 0EH.

The Helwith Bridge Inn is a short walk from the YSS hut. They serve evening meals and will also do breakfast if it is booked in advance.
