The CDG publication WOOKEY HOLE tells the story of the pioneers and their cutting edge approaches to exploratory diving at one of Somerset’s best-known caves over the last 75 years.
The book covers two periods: 1935 – 1985, and then 1986 to its publication in 2010. The introduction is by Jim Hanwell and there are 28 chapters by a variety of authors including Bob Davies, Oliver Wells, Dave Savage, Brian Prewer, Martyn Farr, John Cordingley and many others.
The book is beautifully laid out by designer Mark ‘Gonzo’ Lumley with all his trademark flare and eye for the placement of photos, surveys and other images. There’s a full bibliography and index to compliment the easy to read format.
The book is hardback, with 350 pages and is liberally illustrated throughout. It’s an informative but easy read for both cavers and cave divers covering every aspect of diving at Wookey, in many cases told from the point of view of the pioneer explorers themselves.
The CDG are now making copies available to members and non members alike for an incredible £15 which includes FREE P&P in the UK and can be bought direct from the CDG website. The book can also be shipped worldwide at additional cost.
