The annual Giles Barker Award, presented jointly by the Morgannwg CC and Red Rose CC in his memory, is given to anyone who has achieved excellence in any aspect of cave photography. The recipient for 2026, who at Hidden Earth received a hand-crafted trophy made by Ceris Jones, is an industrious, creative and talented film-maker: Keith Edwards, whose work can be found on YouTube.
‘Caver Keith’ has, since at least 2010, produced over 140 caving videos that he has uploaded to his YouTube channel. He has been involved with the production of countless opening videos for Hidden Earth, has won or received awards in the video salon many times and was invited to create an original film for the prestigious Golden Age of Cave Exploration celebration, held at the Royal Geographical Society in London in 2017. This, The World of Caving, subsequently won the Best of Show in the video section of the 2018 NSS Convention.
Keith has always encouraged others to follow in his footsteps by passing on his knowledge with video workshops and talks and this, aside from any other aspect of his work, makes him the perfect winner of the 2026 Giles Barker Award. Congratulations go to Caver Keith.
